gradely (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates gradely.au. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service. By using gradely, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed password (handled by Firebase Authentication).
Usage data: We record the number of comments you generate and your current plan to enforce credit limits. We do not store the full text of generated comments on our servers beyond your session history.
Student data you enter: The student names, year levels, and teaching notes you enter are used solely to generate comments during your session. This data is processed by Anthropic’s Claude API and is subject to Anthropic’s privacy policy. We do not sell or share this data.
Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment data.
Analytics: We may collect anonymised usage analytics (page views, feature usage) to improve the product. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and improve the gradely service
- Manage your account and billing

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
3. Student Privacy
gradely is used by teachers to generate report comments. Any student names or identifying information you enter is used only to personalise the generated comment text. We strongly recommend using first names only and avoiding sensitive personal details beyond what is required for the comment.
We do not knowingly collect or store personal information about minors. Teachers are responsible for ensuring their use of gradely complies with their school’s privacy obligations and applicable Australian privacy law.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), Firebase Authentication for identity management, and server-side session validation.
While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
